"Roy" was a gorgeous, long bodied buck with a level
topline and long, level, wide rump, good width throughout, correct feet and legs, tight shoulder attachment. Really an all around nice buck that always produced doe kids that were an improvement on their dams. Roy tolerated NO "Setting up" so all that one could do was walk him into place and know that what you see is what you get, which as you can see from the photos below is pretty darn good! Roy was an adult buck when I acquired him for my herd so I wouldn't have thought it could happen but he did grow to be oversized at the age of four and a half years. Even so, I feel that he is the best buck to date that I ever had as a member of my herd and I am very grateful that he and I found each other (thanks to Judy Veale and Cindy Fraiser). Roy really did live up to his namesake too as he was quite the crooner when with the ladies. We lost Roy in the Spring of 2004. A Necropsy done at UNH and further tissue sampling sent to University of Michigan found that he passed on from Liver failure due to ingesting a toxin approx. 4 to 5 days before death. We sorely miss Roy and feel that the ND world lost an important sire when Roy left us. We had Roy semen collected but I sold my tank with all it’s contents and the person who bought it let the tank go dry. I was hoping that posthumously Roy would be able to sire more kids but it just wasn’t in the cards.
