3*M AR (pending) Old Mountain Farm Tamen Quinn

Photos by: Cheryle Moore-Smith

Tamen was sold as a kid and came back to me 3 days after she became a first freshener. I am so grateful that her owner decided to keep her doe kid and offer Tamen back to me. I have found over the years that some of my best goats were goats that I sold to someone (not because I didn’t recognize their awesomeness :o) and then was able to bring back into the herd later on. I was already milking way too many does when Tamen returned and I expected her production to be compromised by leaving her kids, moving and the long truck ride here so I decided to get some photos of her first fresh udder and then dry her off knowing that I would be wowed by her second udder and BOY am I. I am really going to enjoy watching this beautiful “power doe” mature. Those who know me, know that although I feel “power does” have their place in the breed, it is generally not the style of goat that I am breeding for. A power doe would have to be pretty darn nice to be retained. That fact indicates how nice I think that Tamen is and how nice Tamen’s power doe dam is also, since she has remained in our herd all these years as well.
