We reserve the right to retain any goat for our herd. We do not require a monetary deposit for reservations. We do however keep a list of names of those that have asked to be given right of refusal on goats that reside at our farm or on future kids that will be born on our farm, should they become available. Please check our breeding schedule as an aid in your decision making when asking for right of refusal on goats.

We are very pleased that most of our goats are sold by right of refusal. Since purchasing goats this way means there is usually a bit of a wait for the desired goat to arrive or become available, It assures us that it is not a "whim" purchase. We have found that the person willing to aquire their goats in this manner usually makes for a better more responsible goat owner. It also provides the new goat owner with the time to learn how to be a good goat caretaker and prepare properly for his or her new charges. I enjoy assisting in the learning process of new goat owners whenever I can.

Since our herd is as large as we want it to grow, each year as we make it through kidding and show season, we have the tough task of deciding who will be moving to new homes and who will stay on with us here at Old Mountain Farm. If you have a particular interest in a certain member of our herd let us know so that we can make note of it for future reference.

Merry saying hi!

When a goat you have asked for right of refusal becomes available for purchase, we will notify you. At that point, if you decide to purchase the goat a deposit of $100.00 (on breeding quality animals) and deposit of $50.00 (on pet wethers) is required to hold the goat until a prearranged time of pick-up or transport can be met. If the reserved goat is not picked up or shipped at the prearranged date, there will be a $3.00 per day, per animal boarding charge for each animal. If the prearranged pick-up or transport date has arrived and then two weeks have gone by since that date without the buyer making contact with Old Mountain Farm the buyer will forfeit all money paid up to that date and the goat/goats will be offered for sale to the next interested client.

Balance of payment on your goat or goats will be due upon notification that your goat is ready to leave for its new home and must be paid in full at time of shipping or pick-up. The final payment on goats must be in the form of cash, or registration papers will not leave with the purchased goat until checks have cleared at the bank.
All shipping costs (transportation, heath certificates, testing, crates etc.) are the buyers responsibility.

Once you have committed, with a monetory deposit, to purchase a goat from Old Mountain Farm, your deposit is nonrefundable therefore, deposits will be forfeited if buyer backs out of the sale for any reason.

Our doe kids are usually priced between $400.00 and $1000.00. The first pet wether (fixed male) purchased is $100.00 each and the second wether purchased as a companion for the first is $50.00.

Since goats are instinctively herd animals, they require a "buddy" in order to be happy and healthy. We will not sell one goat by itself unless there are already goats (or another appropriate herdmate) at the new home it is going to. As one more step in assuring your new goat's health, you can also expect us to be interested in where you aquired your other ruminant farm residents from.

We ship out of the Portland Maine Jetport with Delta Airlines.

We occasionally have adult breeding bucks available and sometimes offer adult does for sale; open, bred or in milk.

We look at our own goats with a very critical eye when it comes to describing conformity, both strengths and weaknesses to a potential customer.

We are making every possible effort to breed healthy, productive, well conformed animals and because of that anyone considering purchasing an animal from us can be assured that we will do our best to provide them with the animal that they are looking for.

To date, we know of only three animals (all bucks) of our breeding who have grown over the AGS Nigerian Dwarf height limit but we are, at this time, not comfortable guaranteeing height.

Our goats are healthy and free from visual defects when we sell them and we guarantee that at time of pick-up or shipping. Since we cannot control the goat's environment once they leave our farm, we cannot offer further guarantees.

If a problem does develop we will work with you to try and find a viable solution however since we consider biosecurity a very important issue we can not accept animals back into our herd once they have left our farm unless they have lived with no other ruminants from other farms.

Stress is very common in both kids and adults of all ages when moved from one place to another. Illness and in rare cases death can occur if the animal is not properly handled or treated. We will not be responsible for stress of any kind after the animal leaves our farm.

We have worked long and hard to get the good reputation that we have and we wish to keep that good reputation, so we want you to be pleased with your purchase.
