Fatty…watching her grow has been a real learning experience for me. You see, I have learned over the years to trust my gut. It has proven time and again to be what works for me. Actually in almost all aspects of my life, my gut tends to be my best guide. This time, not so. I said over and over to Wyl whenever looking at Fatty, “Goodness that doe is clunky looking, definitely not my style of dairy doe”. Wyl wanted me to keep her though since she is polled and history had shown that I sell my polled kids, not intentionally, that just is the way it turns out. Of course Wyl wanted her, he is the one that does the disbudding! By the time Fatty was a yearling, I could not believe the metamorphosis of this doe. The “ugly duckling” had turned into a “beautiful elegant swan”. She is a very sharp, polled, elegant, graceful doe at maturity who will be a fourth freshener in 2020. Her quiet, gentle “light as a feather” persona is really quite refreshing. She has really nice depth of body and strong legs and feet. She has a nicely shaped well attached mammary system and her teats which are average sized express nicely. The outstanding quality to her udder which is noticeable the moment you grab hold of it is the fine delicate skin texture and it’s globular, collapsibility.
