Norman Elliot Moore

76, of 60 Old Mountain Road, Cape Neddick, and North Bradford, Maine, Formerly of Holliston, and Cochituate, Massachusetts., passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at York Hospital, York, Maine. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and brother, and a valued friend who will be greatly missed.

He was born in Wayland, Massachusetts, on April 1, 1926, a son of Clifford Sewall and Albyna Sullivan Moore, and was educated in Cochituate, Massachusetts schools. He attended the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, Massachusetts and was an accomplished watercolorist, photographer and videographer of nature. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Moore was a semi-professional singer and the featured vocalist with a 20-piece big band from 1949 to 1959, and was also the vocalist with several smaller groups during the same period. Additionally, he worked as a sheet-metal mechanic, realtor, and a heating and ventilation estimator, retiring in 1991. He was also proud of his many contributions to his daughter’s dairy goat farm in Cape Neddick, Maine.

He began his military service on Sept. 5th, 1944 in the U.S. Army, joining the famed 29th Infantry Division and continued with this division until V-E day. He was awarded the Presidential Citation, Good Conduct medal, American Theatre and European Theatre campaign ribbons with three battle stars, Victory ribbon with star, occupational ribbon
of Germany and Combat Infantryman's Badge.

He reenlisted on Nov. 8th, 1945, and worked as an MP in Germany and France. He was honorably discharged on Sept.24th, 1948 with the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Moore was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Michelson Moore, who passed away on December 30th, 1989, and who he honored and loved infinitely.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryle Moore-Smith and her husband, Wyl Smith, of Cape Neddick, ME.; his two sons, Danny Robinson and his wife, Karen, of Maynard, Massachusetts and Leland Robinson and his wife, Candace, of Milford, Massachusetts; his sister, Rose Yeager, of York, Maine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 3rd at his home in Cape Neddick, Maine.
