Why... do we have two separate breeding schedules?

We currently lease several of our does (whom we refer to as "our Satellite goats") to two Grade A dairies for the purpose of milk production.

The offspring of those leased goats still bear the "Old Mountain Farm" herdname.

For decades, we have been advocates for responsible goat management, including such practices as contagious disease testing of our herd annually and full disclosure of results.

The same strict management is required from the dairies that lease our does

Along with the commitment that they will not keep and have never, in the past, kept ruminants on their property other than those from Old Mountain Farm (with the only exception being animals originating from farms that we have recommended and approved).

We also visit our "satellite goats" and their caretakers regularly in order to have a hands on relationship with our goats and in order to have a positive working relationship with their caretakers.
